Our showroom is located in an 18th-century palace in
Frederiksstaden, one of Copenhagen's most distinguished historic districts. It
occupies the piano nobile—the principal first floor, traditionally
reserved for the building's most prestigious residents.

The interiors were last renovated around 1900 and have
remained remarkably intact. Originally part of the local police headquarters,
the rooms retain their original wooden floors and understated elegance. Today,
these historic surroundings are complemented by a contemporary Danish interior
of white walls, brushed stainless steel details, and sheer silk-and-microfibre
curtains.

The showroom is furnished with carefully selected
antique Danish tailoring furniture, each piece reflecting the heritage of the
craft.

At its centre stands an original tailor's fabric shelf
that once belonged to the English-trained tailor of King Frederik IX. Working
in the classic English bespoke tradition without shoulder padding, he stored
each client's fabric on its own shelf, ensuring complete exclusivity. Shortly
after his passing, the shelf became part of the showroom's collection.

Displayed nearby is a pair of tailor's shears that
belonged to Niels Kongshaug's grandfather, a second-generation tailor from
Herning. He made uniforms for officers of the Danish battalion stationed in the
town where Elise Gug was born. Three generations later, the shears have become
part of the showroom—a quiet reminder of a family tradition in tailoring that
spans more than a century.

Two solid industrial worktables were inherited from the
milliner who occupied the premises before ELISE GUG established the showroom in
1977. A large mirror and two chrome garment racks came from a neighbouring
boutique when it closed in 1979, where they had once displayed evening gowns.

One tradition has remained unchanged. For generations,
garments were sent to clients on approval and returned freely if they were not
exactly right. That principle continues today: every purchase made through the
ELISE GUG webshop may be returned within 14 days, for any reason
